Key lime pie
Ingredients/Components
- graham cracker crumbs
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- egg whites - 2 item
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- packed light brown sugar - 1/4 c
- butter, melted - 1/3 c
- cans sweetened condensed milk - 3 oz
- fresh Key lime juice - 1 c
How to make key lime pie:
Combine graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar and butter. Press into pie plate. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes.In a mixing bowl, stir together milk and lime juice until well blended. Pour into cooled crust.
Beat egg whites and cream of tartar on high until foamy. Add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time. Mix until stiff peaks form. Spread meringue over filling. Bake at 325° for 25 to 28 minutes. Chill 8 hours. Garnish with fresh lime slices. Yield: 1 (9-inch) pie.
