  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • egg yolks - 4 item
  • pinch of salt - 1 item
  • egg whites - 6 item
  • can sweetened condensed milk - 1 item
  • cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
  • lime juice - 1/2 c
  • 9-inch baked pie shell - 1 item

How to make key lime pie:

Beat the egg yolks until lemon colored. Blend in the condensed milk and slowly add lime juice and salt; mix well. Add the cream of tartar to the egg whites and beat until foamy. Continue beating, adding sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until peaks form. Fold 6 tablespoons of the meringue into the filling mixture and pour into a baked pie shell. Top with the remaining meringue, sealing the edges carefully. Bake at 330° until golden brown.
