Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 5 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • flour - 2 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • Crisco - 1/2 c
  • stick oleo - 1 item
  • can coconut - 1 item
  • 1/2 powdered sugar - 1 item
  • Cream oleo and shortening

How to make italian cream cake:

Beat egg whites stiff. Cream oleo and shortening. Add sugar, beat until smooth. Add egg yolks, one at a time and beat well. Add flour and soda to mixture, then add the buttermilk and vanilla. Add coconut. Fold in the egg whites. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Grease and flour 3 cake (layer) pans.Frosting:1/2 stick oleo1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1 1/2 powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla Cream oleo and cream cheese. Add powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Add vanilla. Spread on cake. Sprinkle nuts on top of each layer.
