Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 5 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- flour - 2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- stick oleo - 1 item
- can coconut - 1 item
- 1/2 powdered sugar - 1 item
- Cream oleo and shortening
How to make italian cream cake:
Beat egg whites stiff. Cream oleo and shortening. Add sugar, beat until smooth. Add egg yolks, one at a time and beat well. Add flour and soda to mixture, then add the buttermilk and vanilla. Add coconut. Fold in the egg whites. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Grease and flour 3 cake (layer) pans.Frosting:1/2 stick oleo1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1 1/2 powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla Cream oleo and cream cheese. Add powdered sugar and beat until smooth.
