  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • chopped onion - 3 Tbsp
  • white cornmeal - 2 c
  • whole egg - 1 item

How to make hush puppies:

Mix dry ingredients. Add onion, milk and egg; stir. Shape into small patties about the size of a hulled walnut, spanking them a little as you shape to get rid of air pockets. Drop into hot fish grease to brown. Serves 6 to 8.
