Sausage dressing
Ingredients/Components
- margarine - 1/4 c
- chopped celery
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- bread - 4 6
- eggs, slightly beaten - 7 item
- large onion, chopped - 1 item
- bulk pork sausage - 1 lb
- raisins if desired - 1 c
- chicken broth or bouillon - 4 5
- sage or to taste - 1/2 tsp
- 9 x 13-inch pan cornbread - 1 item
How to make sausage dressing:
Crumble cornbread and moistened bread in a large bowl; set aside. Brown sausage slowly, adding margarine, onion and celery. Cook until onion is tender. Pour over bread mixture. Add eggs, seasonings and about 2 cups of broth. Mix well, adding more broth until all is soft and moist. Mix in raisins, if desired.
