  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1/3 c
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • cornmeal - 2 c
  • grated Cheddar cheese - 1/2 c
  • tomatoes, chopped - 1/2 c
  • onions, finely chopped - 1/2 c
  • chopped jalapenos optional - 1 item

How to make hush puppies:

Stir first six ingredients together until smooth. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop by spoonfuls into hot oil. Cook until brown. Drain on paper towels.
