Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- cornmeal - 1 c
- small to medium onion, minced - 1 item
How to make hush puppies:
Mix together the dry ingredients and the onion. Break in the egg and beat vigorously. Add the milk; stir together. Make small round cakes, 2 inches in diameter. Poke a hole in the center with finger, a doughnut. Slide into deep fat in which fish has been fried, until they are deep brown. Serve hot and at once.
