Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3 Tbsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • warm water - 1/2 c
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • yeast - 1 pkg
  • milk, scalded - 1/2 c
  • melted shortening/oil - 3 Tbsp

How to make hot rolls:

Stir yeast, sugar, salt and warm water in a bowl. Cool scalded milk to lukewarm and add to mixture. Add 1 cup of flour, 1 beaten egg and the melted shortening. Beat together. Add 2 cups of flour and beat. Let rise until double in bulk. Punch down and make into rolls. Let rise again. Bake in hot oven at about 375°.
