Hawaiian chicken
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/2 c
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- ginger - 1/4 tsp
- cider vinegar - 3/4 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
- can sliced pineapple
- pieces chicken - 4 item
- cube chicken bouillon - 1 item
- salad oil or shortening - 1/3 c
- large green pepper, cut crosswise in 1/4-inch circles - 1 item
How to make hawaiian chicken:
Sauce:1 (20 oz.) can sliced pineapple1 c. sugar2 Tbsp. cornstarch3/4 c. cider vinegar1 Tbsp. soy sauce1/4 tsp. ginger1 cube chicken bouillon1 large green pepper, cut crosswise in 1/4-inch circles Wash chicken and pat dry with paper towels. Coat chicken with flour. Heat oil and add chicken, a few pieces at a time. Brown on all sides. Remove to shallow pan, skin side up. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.Make Sauce: Drain pineapple, pouring syrup into 2-cup measure. Add water to make 1 1/4 cups. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, pineapple syrup, vinegar, soy sauce, ginger and bouillon cube. Bring to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil for 2 minutes and pour over chicken.
Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes. Add pineapple slices and green pepper; bake 30 minutes longer, covered, or until chicken is tender. Serve with fluffy white rice.
