Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour
  • brown sugar
  • baking soda - 4 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • molasses - 1/2 c
  • ginger - 2 tsp
  • cloves - 1 tsp

How to make gingersnaps:

Baking Temperature: 375°. Baking Time: 10 minutes.

Cream together shortening, brown sugar, molasses and eggs. Sift together flour, soda, salt and spices. Stir into creamed mixture. Form into balls and roll in granulated sugar. Bake. Yield: 10 dozen.

Note: These cookies rise and crack. Remove from the oven as soon as they turn golden brown. Do not let them get dark.
