How to make fourth of july cake:

Prepare cake mix as directed and bake in an 8-inch pan. Cool. Place cake layers, top side up, in two clean 8-inch pans. Poke each cake with a fork in 1/2 inch intervals on the first layer. Top the top and sides with Cool Whip. Garnish and decorate, if desired.
