Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 1 Tbsp
  • chopped pecans - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • cornstarch
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • oil - 1 c
  • soda - 1/4 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • all-purpose flour - 2 c
  • margarine - 1/4 c
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • allspice - 1/2 tsp
  • fig preserves - 1 c
  • Add oil, beating well

How to make fig cake:

Combine dry ingredients. Add oil, beating well. Add eggs, beating well after each one. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Mix well. Stir in fig preserves and pecans. Pour into tube pan and bake at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.Buttermilk Glaze:1/4 c. buttermilk1/2 c. sugar1/4 tsp. soda1 1/2 tsp. cornstarch1/4 c. margarine1 1/2 tsp. vanilla Combine first 5 ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Cool slightly and stir in vanilla. Spoon over warm cake.
