  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • all-purpose flour - 3 Tbsp
  • ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • light brown sugar, firmly packed - 1/4 c
  • lemon juice* - 1 Tbsp
  • large egg yolk, slightly beaten - 1 item
  • butter or margarine, at room temperature - 1/3 c
  • Keebler graham cracker Ready-Crust pie crust - 1 item
  • fresh, peeled, sliced cooking apples

How to make dutch apple pie:

Filling:5 1/2 c. fresh, peeled, sliced cooking apples1 Tbsp. lemon juice*1/2 c. sugar1/4 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour1/4 tsp. salt1/2 tsp. cinnamon1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg Topping:3/4 c. all-purpose flour1/4 c. sugar1/4 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed1/3 c. butter or margarine, at room temperature Preheat oven to 375°. Brush bottom and sides of crust evenly with egg yolk; bake on baking sheet until light brown, about 5 minutes. Remove crust from oven.

Combine sliced apples, lemon juice, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well and spoon into crust. Mix remaining flour, sugar, brown sugar and butter with fork until crumbly. Sprinkle topping mixture evenly over apples. Bake on baking sheet until topping is golden and filling is bubbling, about 50 minutes. Cool thoroughly on wire rack (at least 4 hours).

*Omit lemon juice if apples are tart.
