Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • vanilla - 1 Tbsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1 item
  • egg yolks - 4 item
  • cream - 1 Tbsp
  • butter or oleo - 1/2 c
  • yeast - 1 pkg
  • scalded milk, cooled - 2 c
  • whole egg - 1 item
  • Add 2 cups flour

How to make doughnuts:

Put yeast in cool milk. Add 2 cups flour. Let rise until light, then beat in rest of ingredients. Knead lightly. Let rise.

Roll dough 1/2 inch thick. Cut doughnuts and let rise until light. Fry in deep fat. Makes 5 dozen.Doughnut Glaze:1 lb. powdered sugar1 Tbsp. cornstarch1 Tbsp. cream1 tsp. vanilla water Mix sugar, cornstarch, cream and vanilla. Add enough water to make mixture medium thick. Dip while doughnuts are still warm.
