Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- baking powder
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- mace - 1/8 tsp
How to make doughnuts:
Combine shortening, sugar and eggs. Cream. Add dry ingredients alternately. Add milk into flour mixture. Blend well. Cover and chill 1 hour.Place on lightly floured board. If too soft, knead in a small amount of flour. Roll out a small amount of dough at a time to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with doughnut cutter, dipped in flour. Drop into hot grease, 365° to 375°, deep enough to float doughnuts. Cook 3 to 5 minutes, until brown.
Drain on paper towels or use a paper grocery bag. Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar, mixed.
