Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 3/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- vegetable oil - 1 item
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- ground cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
How to make doughnuts:
Heat oil in deep fryer to 375°. Beat 1 1/2 cups four and remaining ingredients in large bowl on low, scraping the bowl constantly for 30 seconds. Beat on medium for 2 minutes, still scraping the bowl. Stir in remaining flour. Turn dough on a well floured cloth-covered board. Roll around gently to cover with flour. Roll gently 3/8-inch thick. Cut with floured doughnut cutter.Slice doughnuts into hot oil with wide spatula very carefully. Turn doughnuts as they rise to the surface. Fry until golden brown, 1 to 1 1/2 minutes on each side. Remove from oil; do not prick doughnuts. Drain on paper towels or on paper bags. Serve plain, sugared or frosted.
