Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • pkg
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • chopped dates - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • boiling water
  • shredded coconut - 1 c
  • chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
  • well beaten eggs - 2 item
  • plus 3 Tbsp

How to make date chocolate chip cake:

Topping:1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips1/2 c. chopped walnuts1/2 c. brown sugar1 c. shredded coconut Pour boiling water over dates and add 1 teaspoon baking soda and cool. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and cooled date mixture. Add flour, baking soda and salt and mix well. Put into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Mix topping and sprinkle over cake. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes. Serves 16 to 20.
