Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- chopped dates - 1 c
- baking soda - 2 tsp
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- boiling water - 2 c
- sifted flour
- white sugar - 2 c
- butter or oleo - 2 Tbsp
How to make date and nut bread:
Boil water and remove from stove. Add dates and soda. Let stand. Beat butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat. Add vanilla, then dry ingredients. Mix well. Add date mixture and nuts. Fill greased and floured pans half full. Bake 1 hour at 350°. Makes 2 loaves, 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch pans.Recipe categories: Breads, Fruit, Quick breads.
