  • sugar - 3/4 1
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • milk - 2/3 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • sifted flour
  • egg yolk - 1 item
  • egg white - 1 item
  • cornflakes - 1 c
  • Cut in shortening

How to make danish pastry apple bars:

Combine flour and salt. Cut in shortening. Beat egg yolk in measuring cup. Add milk to make 2/3 cup. Mix well. Stir into flour mixture. On floured surface, roll half the dough to 17 x 17-inch rectangle. Fit into and up sides of 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch baking pan. Sprinkle cornflakes on dough. Top with apples, sugar and cinnamon. Roll remaining dough to 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch rectangle. Place over apples. Seal edges. Cut slits on top. Beat egg white; spread on crust. Bake at 375° for 50 minutes. Drizzle glaze on top. Slice into bars.Glaze:1 c. powdered sugar3 to 4 tsp. milk
