Coffee cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 6 Tbsp
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- baking powder - 2 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- Cut in shortening
How to make coffee cake:
Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and sugar. Cut in shortening. In a bowl, beat together the egg and milk. Pour into dry ingredients. Stir well with a fork. Spread into an 8-inch greased pan. Add topping.Topping:1/4 c. sugar2 Tbsp. flour1 Tbsp. butter1 tsp. cinnamon1 tsp. nutmeg Mix together until crumbly. Sprinkle on top of cake mixture. Bake at 400° for 25 minutes.Note: This recipe has been in my family for many generations. It is best eaten hot with butter on top and then add milk and sugar.
