Cloud biscuits
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- milk - 2/3 c
- self-rising flour
- butter or margarine, melted - 1 Tbsp
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- butter-flavored shortening - 1/2 c
How to make cloud biscuits:
Combine flour and sugar in a medium bowl; mix well. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Combine egg and milk; add to flour mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.Turn dough out onto a floured surface; knead dough 3 or 4 times. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 450° for 10 to 12 minutes or until biscuits are golden. Remove baking sheet from oven. Brush biscuits with melted butter. Yields 12 biscuits.
