  • salt
  • pepper - 1 tsp
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • basil
  • olive oil - 1/2 c
  • marjoram - 1 tsp
  • chopped green bell pepper - 2/3 c
  • thyme - 1 tsp
  • large chopped onion - 1 item
  • chili powder to taste - 1 item
  • chopped red bell pepper - 2/3 c
  • cayenne powder - 3/4 tsp
  • handful chopped parsley - 1 item
  • to 5 cloves minced garlic - 4 item
  • robust red wine - 1 c
  • large can cut up tomatoes - 1 item
  • prawns, cleaned - 1 lb
  • white fish, cut into chunks - 1 2
  • crab legs or crab meat or fresh oysters or shrimp as much as desired - 1 item

How to make cioppino:

Saute in olive oil the onion, parsley, garlic, red and green bell pepper. Add tomato sauce, wine, bay leaf, thyme, oregano, marjoram, salt and pepper, cayenne pepper, basil, chili powder and tomatoes. Stir well. Cook for 40 minutes. Add prawns and white fish and cook for 15 minutes. Add crab legs, etc. Cook 7 to 8 minutes longer.
