Cinnamon puffs
Ingredients/Components
- dry yeast - 2 pkg
- warm water - 1/2 c
- lukewarm milk - 3/4 c
- sugar - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- sifted flour
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
How to make cinnamon puffs:
Combine yeast and water. Let stand 5 minutes. In a large bowl, combine milk, sugar, salt, shortening, eggs, yeast mixture and half of the flour. Beat 2 minutes on electric mixer (medium speed). Add remaining flour and vanilla. Beat 2 more minutes with a spoon.Drop 1 tablespoon of batter into each well-greased, medium size muffin cup. Place in a warm place and let rise until double and they reach the tops of the muffin pans (approximately 30 to 40 minutes). Bake in a quick, moderate oven, 375°, for 18 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from pans. Brush with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon. Best when served warm. Yields 2 1/2 dozen puffs.
