Chocolate upside-down cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 1 c
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- water
- cocoa - 2 Tbsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- butter, melted - 2 Tbsp
- white sugar - 1/2 c
- pecans optional - 1 c
How to make chocolate upside-down cake:
Preheat oven to 375°. Mix flour, 3/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add milk, vanilla, butter and pecans (if using). Pour into 2-quart baking dish. Mix remaining ingredients, except water; sprinkle this dry mixture over batter. Pour water over top. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.The batter comes to the top and looks very much like a cake. Cut into squares and top with whipped cream. Great served warm or cold.
