- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 5 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- butter - 1 c
- cocoa - 1/4 c
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- stick butter - 1 item
- plain flour - 3 c
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition
How to make chocolate pound cake:
Cream together the butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift all dry ingredients together. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Add vanilla and mix well. Bake in floured and greased 10-inch tube pan at 350° for 1 1/2 hours. Ice with Chocolate Frosting.Chocolate Frosting:2 c. sugar3 Tbsp. cocoa1/4 tsp. cream of tartar1 stick butter1/4 tsp. salt1/2 c. milk1/2 tsp. vanilla Combine all ingredients except vanilla. Stir until sugar dissolves. Bring to rapid boil and boil for 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Cool.
