Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3 c
  • eggs - 5 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • cocoa - 1/2 c
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • sticks butter or margarine - 3 item

How to make chocolate pound cake:

Sift dry ingredients together. Cream butter and sugar until very light. Add 4 of the eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to the creamed mixture. Add the vanilla, then thoroughly beat the last egg into the batter. Pour into 10-inch tube pan that has been greased and lightly floured. Bake in 325° oven for 1 1/2 hours. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out on cake rack and finish cooling.
