Chocolate filled bonbons
Ingredients/Components
- granulated sugar - 1/2 c
- packed brown sugar - 1/4 c
- vanilla extract - 2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- chocolate kisses - 3 4
- unsifted all-purpose flour
- Crisco - 3/4 c
- chopped almonds or pecans optional - 1/2 c
How to make chocolate filled bonbons:
Preheat oven to 350°. Cream Crisco and sugars with electric mixer until fluffy. Add egg and extract and beat well. Add flour, baking powder, salt and nuts (optional). Mix until blended. Shape into 1-inch balls. Press each ball around a kiss (like chocolate covered cherry). Bake 12 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet. (Do not overbake.) Cool on wire racks. Frost or decorate as desired. Yields 3 1/2 to 4 dozen cookies.Note: I usually color half dough green and half red. I dip red dough in green sugar and green in red sugar after forming balls with kisses.
