  • water - 1 Tbsp
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 1/3 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • sifted flour
  • allspice - 1/2 tsp
  • sour applesauce - 1 c

How to make chocolate applesauce cake:

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and applesauce. Dissolve soda in water and add. Stir in dry ingredients and mix well. Pour into 9 x 13-inch pan and bake in a 350° oven.
