Ingredients/Components

  • butter or margarine - 1/4 c
  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 2 Tbsp
  • chopped onion - 1/4 c
  • soy sauce - 2 tsp
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • cooked rice - 3 c
  • round steak - 1 lb
  • Chinese noodles optional - 1 item
  • large green peppers, cut in pieces - 2 item
  • celery, cut in pieces - 1/2 c
  • can concentrated consomme - 1/2 item

How to make chinese pepper steak:

Cut steak in strips. Heat butter or margarine in skillet. Add meat and fry until richly browned. Add onion and the next five ingredients. Cook, covered, 20 to 30 minutes or until meat is tender.

Blend cornstarch with water and soy sauce. Stir in meat mixture and cook, uncovered, 5 minutes. Serve with fluffy hot rice. Chinese noodles sprinkled on top are optional.
