Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 1 Tbsp
  • salt - 5 Tbsp
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • vinegar - 1 qt
  • ginger - 2 Tbsp
  • mustard - 1 Tbsp
  • ripe tomatoes, chopped - 1 gal
  • celery, chopped - 1/2 c
  • cayenne pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • green peppers, chopped - 1/2 c
  • grated nutmeg - 1 Tbsp
  • white onions, chopped - 1/2 c
  • sweet red peppers, chopped - 1/2 c
  • red food color may be used - 1 item

How to make chili sauce:

Ketchup spice may be used and others omitted.

Peel tomatoes and onions. Chop onions, celery and peppers fine. Boil all ingredients, except vinegar, for 2 hours or until soft and broken. Add vinegar; simmer for 1 hour. Stir frequently. Seal in hot, sterile jars.
