Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- water - 1 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chili powder - 1 Tbsp
- bay leaf - 1 item
- ground beef
- medium onion - 1 item
- can tomato paste - 1 item
- stalk celery - 1 item
- can whole tomatoes - 1 item
- can kidney beans - 1 item
How to make chile con carne:
Chop up onion and celery and add to ground beef in large skillet or large heavy saucepan. Brown the beef first, then add the onions and celery. Let onions and celery get soft, then add tomatoes, tomato paste, 1 cup water, kidney beans, chili powder, salt and pepper. Stir until well mixed. Add bay leaf. Turn heat to simmer. Cook 1 hour.
