Cherry cheese bars

- flaked coconut - 1/2 c
- firmly packed brown sugar - 3/4 c
- can cherry pie filling - 1 oz
- oleo - 1/2 c
- walnut pieces, divided - 1 c
How to make cherry cheese bars:
Filling:2 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened2/3 c. sugar2 eggs2 tsp. vanilla1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling Heat oven to 350°. Grease a 9 x 12 x 2-inch pan; set aside. Chop 1/2 cup walnuts coarsely for topping; set aside. Chop other 1/2 cup of walnuts fine.Crust: Combine flour, brown sugar and oleo until fine crumbs form. Add 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts and coconut; mix well. Remove 1/2 cup of mixture; set aside. Press remaining crumbs in bottom of pan. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes, until edges are lightly browned.
Filling: Beat the cream cheese, sugar, eggs and vanilla in small bowl at medium speed until smooth. Spread over hot baked crust. Return to oven; bake 15 minutes longer. Spread cherry pie filling over.
Combine reserved coarsely chopped nuts and crumbs; sprinkle over cherries. Return to oven; bake 15 minutes longer. Cool; refrigerate several hours. Cut into bars, about 2 x 1 1/2 inches.
