Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- milk - 2 c
- egg, beaten well - 1 item
- unflavored gelatin, softened in 1/4 c - 1 Tbsp
How to make charlotte russe:
Combine all ingredients in top of a double boiler and cook over boiling water, stirring constantly, until mixture coats a spoon. Cool. When it begins to set, add 1/2 pint whipping cream, which has been whipped with 1 teaspoon almond flavoring. Mix well and refrigerate. Allow mixture to congeal.This can be served with pound cake. Some people like to line a mold with pound cake slices or ladyfingers and pour mixture in the center before it congeals.
