Ingredients/Components

  • small onion, minced - 1 item
  • all-purpose flour - 1/4 c
  • seasoned pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • sliced, scraped carrots, cooked and drained - 4 c
  • slices American cheese - 6 item
  • buttered fresh bread crumbs - 2 c
  • melted butter - 1/4 c
  • seasoned salt - 1 tsp
  • milk - 2 c

How to make carrot casserole:

Saute the onion in butter. Stir in flour, seasoned salt and seasoned pepper. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly. Arrange a layer of carrots in a 2-quart casserole. Place 3 slices of cheese over the carrots. Repeat layers. Pour the sauce over the carrots and top with bread crumbs. Bake at 350°, uncovered, for 25 to 30 minutes.
