Cabbage salad
Ingredients/Components
- oil - 1 oz
- vinegar - 1 oz
- pepper to taste - 1 item
- medium head cabbage - 1 item
How to make cabbage salad:
Shred cabbage as if for cole slaw. (Do this the night before you plan to eat the salad.) In a large bowl, put 1/5 cabbage layered with 1 tablespoon salt. Continue to layer cabbage and salt 5 times until all cabbage is gone. Cover with a clean dish towel; leave on counter overnight.In the morning, take 2 handfuls of cabbage and squeeze hard until all water runs out and cabbage is limp. Repeat with all cabbage. Toss with oil and vinegar. Season with black pepper and refrigerate.
