Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 6 Tbsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 2 c
- flour - 1/3 c
- brown sugar - 1 c
- butter - 4 Tbsp
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- egg yolks, slightly beaten - 3 item
- Meringue:3 egg whites
How to make butterscotch pie:
Meringue:3 egg whites6 Tbsp. sugar1/4 tsp. cream of tartar Melt butter in saucepan, brown slightly and add brown sugar and flour. Stir until blended. Add milk and egg yolks. Cook over direct heat until mixture thickens. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell.For meringue, combine egg whites and cream of tartar. Gradually add sugar, while beating to form stiff peaks. Spread on pie and lightly brown.
