  • vanilla extract - 1 tsp
  • almond extract - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • softened butter - 1/2 c
  • sifted plain flour - 3 c
  • softened margarine - 1/2 c
  • buttermilk, divided - 1 c

How to make buttermilk pound cake:

Preheat oven to 325°. Combine baking soda and 1/4 cup buttermilk. Stir and set aside. Cream butter and margarine. Add sugar and mix thoroughly. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour; measure and sift 3 more times.
