Buttermilk cookies

Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 2 c
• eggs - 3 item
• vanilla - 1 tsp
• flour - 4 c
• baking powder - 2 tsp
• baking soda - 1 tsp
• shortening - 1 c
• buttermilk save 1/4 c - 1 c

How to make buttermilk cookies:

Cream shortening and vanilla. Sift flour; measure. Add baking powder and set aside. Add eggs to cream mixture, one at a time, then add to mixture alternately 7 spoons of flour and 3/4 cup of buttermilk. Add baking soda to remaining 1/4 cup of buttermilk and add to batter. Add remainder of flour. Drop by the spoonful onto a cookie sheet and bake at 400° for about 10 minutes.
