Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped pecans - 1/2 c
  • milk - 1/3 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • water - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 3 Tbsp
  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • box confectioners sugar - 1 item
  • sticks oleo - 2 item
  • stick oleo - 1 item

How to make buttermilk chocolate cake:

Sift flour, sugar and salt 2 times. Melt oleo. Add water and cocoa. Bring to a boil and pour over dry ingredients; mix well. Add eggs, buttermilk (in which soda has been dissolved), and vanilla. Bake in a greased cake pan at 350° for 20 minutes or until done done in a 9 x 13-inch pan.

Icing: Melt oleo. Add cocoa, milk and vanilla and mix. Sift confectioners sugar into mixture and beat until spreadable. Serves about 20.
