Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1/2 c
- eggs, separated - 2 item
- water - 2/3 c
- cold water - 1 c
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- egg whites - 3 item
- caramel - 2 Tbsp
- sugar, burnt brown
- burnt caramel - 6 tsp
How to make burnt sugar cake:
Filling:2 c. sugar2/3 c. water2 Tbsp. caramel3 egg whites Burnt Caramel:1 c. sugar, burnt brown1/2 c. water Cake: Mix together; beat 5 minutes. Add Burnt Caramel and beat again, then fold in 2 beaten egg whites.Filling: Put the sugar in a pan. Add the water; boil until it threads. Add the caramel, then whip whites of 3 eggs. Add syrup; beat until it will stand alone. Flavor with vanilla. Put cake together with this filling.
Burnt Caramel: Brown the sugar until burnt. Add 1/2 cup water; boil to a thick syrup.
