Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 3/4 c
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • shortening - 1/3 c
  • unsweetened chocolate - 2 sq
  • broken nuts - 1/2 c

How to make brownies:

Melt together over hot water chocolate and shortening. Beat in sugar and eggs. Sift together and stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Mix in nuts. Spread in well-greased 8-inch square pan (8 x 8 x 2-inch). Bake until top has dull crust. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes. A slight imprint will be left when touched lightly with finger. Cool slightly, then cut into squares.
