Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • raisins - 1/3 c
  • cider vinegar - 2 Tbsp
  • mayonnaise - 1 c
  • black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • red onion - 1 item
  • toasted sunflower seeds - 1/2 c
  • thin slices bacon - 10 item

How to make broccoli salad:

Cut broccoli flowerets into smaller than bite size pieces. Cut off the tough outer layer of the stalks and chop the tender part into small pieces. You need about 8 cups of broccoli. In a small skillet, saute the bacon until crisp and set aside. Slice onion lengthwise, then cut into julienne strips. In a large bowl, combine broccoli, onion, raisins and bacon. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar and pepper. Combine dressing with the vegetables and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving, mixing once during this time. Top with sunflower seeds.
