Boiled raisin cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- raisins - 2 c
- margarine - 1 c
- flour, sifted - 4 c
- warm water - 2 c
- allspice - 1 tsp
- soda, in a little hot water - 2 tsp
How to make boiled raisin cake:
Combine water, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, salt, margarine, sugar and raisins in saucepan; boil for 3 minutes. When cool, add flour, baking powder and soda. Add chopped nuts. Bake for 1 hour at between 325° and 350°.This is delicious - a favorite of ours for the past 20 years.
