Black walnut cake
Ingredients/Components
- milk
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- butter - 1 c
- egg yolks - 4 item
- baking powder - 1 Tbsp
- all-purpose flour
- egg whites - 4 item
- sifted powdered sugar - 3 c
- black walnut flavoring - 1 tsp
- chopped black walnuts - 1 c
- ground cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
How to make black walnut cake:
Cream together 3 cups powdered sugar, butter and flavoring until fluffy. Add egg yolks and beat after each. Stir together flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Add flour mixture and milk alternately to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in walnuts.In another bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peak forms. Fold beaten egg whites into creamed mixture. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake in 350° oven for 50 to 55 minutes, cool 10 minutes. Remove from pan and dust with powdered sugar.
