Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- baking powder
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 3/4 c
- cream of tartar - 3/4 tsp
How to make biscuits:
Blend dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until coarse like peas. Make a well in the center. Pour in 1/2 cup of milk; toss or mix. Add egg with rest of milk. Mix lightly with a fork. Roll or pat to 1/2 or 3/4-inch. Bake at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes.Can be rolled out and filled with fruit. Roll up and bake at 400° for 20 minutes.
Can be used as a cobbler topping if egg and extra milk are added. Drop by teaspoonfuls on fruit. Bake at 400° for 15 to 18 minutes.
