  • sugar - 1 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 3/4 c
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • baking powder
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • egg whites - 3 item
  • cake flour - 2 c

How to make birthday cake:

Cream shortening and sugar. Add milk with vanilla alternately with sifted dry ingredients. Beat egg whites and add the 1/4 cup of sugar. Fold into the batter last. Pour into 2 greased pans. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.
