Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • all-purpose flour
  • coarse salt - 1 item
  • envelope active dry yeast - 1 item
  • warm beer

How to make beer pretzels:

Pour warm beer in a large mixing bowl and sprinkle with yeast and sugar. Stir until dissolved. Mix in flour and knead about 10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl; cover and let rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 475°. Punch dough down and form into pretzels by rolling dough ropes and twisting into pretzel shape or leaving in stick shape. Place 2-inches apart on baking sheets lined with aluminum foil that has been greased. Brush with beaten eggs and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from baking sheets and place on wire racks to cool. Makes about 2 dozen 3-inch pretzels.
