Beef with sour cream
Ingredients/Components
- pkg - 10 oz
- sour cream - 1/2 c
- flour - 1/4 c
- vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
- garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
- chopped onion - 3/4 c
- salt and pepper - 1 item
- hot cooked rice - 3 4
- can sliced mushrooms with liquid - 4 oz
- thyme - 1/2 tsp
- beef broth - 1 c
- lean beef round steak* - 1 lb
How to make beef with sour cream:
*Ground chuck can be used in place of round steak. Sprinkle a little Kitchen Bouquet over mixture to add a little color.Remove bone and fat from steak. Cut into thin, narrow strips. Flour and brown on all sides in hot oil. Add onion, broth, thyme and liquid from mushrooms. Cover and simmer about 45 minutes.
Add mushrooms and peas. Cover and cook 5 to 7 minutes. Stir in sour cream. Heat, but do not boil. Serve over hot fluffy rice. Garnish rice with pimento, if desired. Yields 6 servings.
