Ingredients/Components

  • butter - 1/4 c
  • salt optional - 1 tsp
  • large onion - 1 item
  • round steak - 2 lb
  • sour cream light can be used - 1 c
  • fresh or canned mushrooms, sliced - 1/2 lb
  • bouillon or consomme - 2 c

How to make beef stroganoff:

Saute onion and mushrooms in 2 tablespoons butter and remove from pan. Cut meat into strips 2 1/2 inches long and 3/4 inch wide. Melt additional 2 tablespoons butter in pan. Toss strips in flour, coating thoroughly. Brown meat in butter. Add salt and bouillon. Simmer, stirring occasionally until meat is tender, about 1 1/4 hours. Add mushrooms and onion and sour cream. Heat. Serve over noodles or rice.
