Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt
  • water - 1 c
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • celery, diced - 1 c
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • can tomatoes, mashed - 1 item
  • Minute tapioca - 3 Tbsp
  • lean stew meat, cooked - 2 lb
  • to 5 potatoes, quartered - 4 item
  • slice white bread - 1 item
  • to 8 carrots, quartered - 6 item

How to make baked beef stew:

Mash tomatoes; add Minute tapioca. Tear bread into tiny pieces and add to tomatoes. Add all other ingredients. Pour into large greased casserole dish. Bake in 325° oven, covered, for 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
